Subaru Impreza WRX - 1995 Patrick Njiru

This Rally T-Shirt is Based on: Patrick Njiru's Subaru Impreza WRX Rally Car at the 1995 Equator Rally in Kenya where he had finished 2nd overall.

The Driver:

Patrick Njiru (July 1957) is a former Kenyan Rally Driver with the Subaru World Rally Team from 1983 to 2002. He is was one of the highest endorsed sportsman after signing a three year deal with BAT and is considered a legendary rally driver in Kenya.

Patrick raved in the 1987 5,000 kilometres safari rally and was the first  black man to finish the safari since John Githu in 1979.

The Car:

In 1993, the quest of building a Group A Subaru Impreza WRX STI was carried out by Prodrive. The Impreza was 160 mm shorter in overall length, with a 60 mm shorter wheelbase than the Legacy RS. It featured active differentials, as well as having a more neutral front/rear weight ratio.

In 1995, FIA mandated more restrictive air intakes in an effort to slow down the Group A WRC cars. Subaru countered this by introducing a new boxer engine with revised camshafts and a different compression ratio. In the same year, Subaru won the constructor's championship in 1995's season.
